Pittenger, William, 1840-1904We have 2 books for this author.William Alvin Pittenger (December 29, 1885 – November 26, 1951) was a Representative from Minnesota's 8th congressional district; born on a farm near Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana; he attended rural schools; was graduated from Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Indiana, in 1909, and from Harvard Law School in 1912; was admitted to the bar in 1912 and commenced practice in Duluth, Minnesota; member of the Minnesota House of Representatives 1917 – 1920; elected as a Republican to the 71st and 72nd congresses, (March 4, 1929 – March 3, 1933); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1932 to the 73rd congress; resumed the practice of law in Duluth, Minnesota; elected to the 74th congress, (January 3, 1935 – January 3, 1937); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1936 to the 75th congress; elected to the 76th, 77th, 78th, and 79th congresses, (January 3, 1939 – January 3, 1947); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1946 to the 80th congress; resumed the practice of law; died in Duluth, Minnesota, November 26, 1951; interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
