"Today a reader, tomorrow a leader." -- W. Fusselman
Crane, ThomasWe have 1 book for this author. In 1810 Lieutenant Thomas Crane, an officer of the 73rd Regiment, was appointed caretaker commandant of Norfolk Island during the final evacuation of the first convict settlement. The British government regarded the island as too isolated and costly to maintain. Although many of the settlers wished to remain on the island, rather than relocate to the harsh climate of Van Diemen's Land, the British government was adamant. By February 1813 the remaining settlers and military, with their possessions and stock were removed. References
