Weston, GeorgeWe have 1 book for this author.George Weston (March 23, 1864 - April 6, 1924) was an American-born businessman in Canada and a municipal politician in the city of Toronto, Ontario. Born in Oswego, New York, he was a small boy when his family moved to Canada, settling in the city of Toronto. Weston entered the bakery business as an apprentice at age eighteen and eventually bought out the owner. In 1911 he sold the business after which he spent time in England where he studied the biscuit making business. Returning to Toronto he opened a new bakeshop that specialized in English style products. His company, George Weston Limited, prospered and following his death in 1924 his son, Garfield took over the business and built it into a major international food conglomerate . From 1910 to 1913 Weston served as a city Alderman. George Weston is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. References
