(born Savannah, Georgia, February 7, 1952) serves as General Counsel for the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, the safety and soundness regulator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Professional lifePreviously, Pollard has served on the staffs of two United States Senators, was a Senior Vice President for Government Affairs for the fifth largest U.S. bank, ran two trade association government relations departments for congressional and regulatory matters. Pollard is author of a two volume text on banking law, a number of journal articles and frequently has testified before the United States Congress and spoken on national media. He also currently serves as a Lecturer at the University of Virginia School of Law as well as Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University School of Business. EducationPollard received a BA (1971) in International Affairs and a J.D. (1974) from the University of North Carolina-- Chapel Hill and a PhD (1980) in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia. He is proficient in Spanish and French. Personal lifePollard has been married to Susan, his wife, for over 35 years. Susan received her BA from the University of North Carolina-- Chapel Hill, and MFA from American University and currently teaches art at St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia. They have three children: Sarah, Nathan, and Rachel. Sarah is currently in school for her education certificate and is a preschool teacher; Nathan is a third year at The College of William and Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law; and Rachel is a fourth year pre-med student at the University of Virginia. Pollard is currently planning to write a book on law in society and is also an active member of the Cosmos Club. An avid history buff, he owns a nationally registered historic house in the Shenandoah mountains of Virginia and has written a short history of the residence.
